Chincoteague Pony Auction Results for 2021

    The on-line Chincoteague Pony Auction was on-going for a week, and ended tonight, Thursday, 29 July.  Had it taken place in person, as it usually does, the Auction would have started at 8 a.m. EDT on the Carnival Grounds on south Main Street. and continued until all lots were sold.  This year, there were 6 items donated to the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company to help raise funds for fire equipment and training, besides the ponies being auctioned.    The items donated were a hand-made quilt featuring the ponies, a hand-knitted shawl with ponies included in the pattern, hand-made wind chimes made of a horseshoe and shells, a painting, a framed photographic print, and a photographic print on canvas.  These six items brought in $3,200 for the CVFC.    Originally 75 ponies were to be auctioned; one was injured and withdrawn from the sale.  When more is known about his injuries and whether he will be sold publicly, I will post it in my ...
