Matareya Wins Acorn Stakes; Echo Zulu Scratched at Gate

Well, the five filly race that was supposed to be a showdown between Echo Zulu and Matareya did not happen Friday, 10 June.  Echo Zulu did not warm up well, and seemed to be off on her left fore.  The attending veterinarian at the starting gate decided it would be best to scratch her, and only four fillies loaded into the gate.  X-rays yesterday and this morning shown no damage to Echo Zulu's leg.
With such a short field, betting was curtailed also.
Matareya won the one mile race in 1:35.77.  She bested Divine Huntress by 6 1/4 lengths; Maryland-bred Divine Huntress was 5 1/2 lengths in front of Dream Lith, who finished 16 lengths ahead of Inventing.  With Echo Zulu gone from the field, Matareya took home $275,000 in purse money; Divine Huntress earned $100,000; Dream Lith received $60,000; and Investing had a paycheck of $30,000.
Matareya winning the 2022 Acorn Stakes

As usual, I report payouts for $2 bets...  Matareya paid $2.60 to win; and Divine Huntress paid $3.90 to place.  A $2 correct Exacta paid $8.70; and the Trifecta paid $269.
