CFVC Pony Committee Designates 10 Fillies as 2022 Buy-Backs

Out of the 65 foals born to the Chincoteague Volunteer Fire Company's Chincoteague Pony herds that live almost year round on the Chincoteague National Wildlife Refuge on Assateague Island Nation Seashore in Virginia, the Pony Committee of the CVFC has chosen ten fillies designated as this year's Buy-Backs.
Buy-Backs are foals that are sold at auction to the highest bidder - however the pony will stay in the care of the CVFC on the islands, for the rest of the pony's natural life.  The person, or group, who purchases the foal has the right of a purchase photo (or several photos) with that specific foal, and that person, or group, gets to name the pony.  The Buy-Backs then return to Assateague after the Pony Penning Auction until the Fall Round-Up in October.  The Buy-Backs are then caught and trailered to the CVFC Main Street Carnival Grounds on Chincoteague, where they receive grain and hay to insure they get a good start on life.  At the time of the Spring Round-Up, in April, they will be turned loose on Assateague to run free until the regular July Pony Penning.  As with all CVFC ponies, they will be freeze-branded and micro-chipped.
Buy-Backs are chosen by the Pony Committee for their bloodlines, conformation and coat color.  They will be breeding stock for the CVFC, and when they are mature to have a foal, then their foals become the property of the CVFC to be sold at auction, like any other pony.
Following are the fillies chosen by the CVFC Pony Committee as the 2022 Buy-Backs.  All photos shown in this blog of these ponies were taken by DSC Photography, and the photos are copyrighted by DSC Photography.
